So... here is our brand new environmental & good deeds forum. Something that unites us all (besides the music, of course!) in wonderful & positive ways.
I figured out (all by myself) how to edit this messageboard!! Tim B. used to run it for me when he worked for my manager's office in NY, but I finally learned how to do things myself!
Yay!

I guess since I asked for it, then maybe I should be adding to the topic.
First, would it be possible to maybe change the name of the topic from, ask and you shall receive to something like Environmental Issues or Recycling?
Second, Earth Day, April 22 is just around the corner. So I was wondering what or if any of the other Komrades have anything planned for Earth Day. Are there any event planned in your areas and do you plan to attend. Here in Taos there is always a daylong event at Kit Carson Park with local musicians and various other entertainers. Also there are usually different alternative vehicles, hybrids, electric and sometimes some that run on bio diesel or vegetable oil. There are booths with everything from information on building green, solar and wind energy to growing organically. Which may come in handy this year as gas prices drive up the cost of food at the markets.
Lastly, I was trying to think of what I could do personally to make a difference this year. As I sat there at work thinking, styrofoam cup in my hand wondering what I could do to help the environment, it hit me. I always bring my own cup for coffee, but if I drink anything else, I automatically grab a 16-ounce styrofoam cup. That’s one cup five day a week, which equals about 20 cups a month and around 260 cups for the landfill every year. Then I thought, multiply that by maybe 20 or 25 employees and that works out to be between 5200 to 2600 cups. Then I thought, multiply that by a couple of hundred other businesses, well that was more than I wanted to think about. So to make a long story short, I am now going to bring my own glass. It’s a start, and as the year progress I will look for other things that I can do without and keep out of the landfills.
Well, have a great Earth Day, plant a tree or some flowers, pick up a couple pieces of trash, sing a song, and say a prayer to mother earth and father sky. Or just think good thoughts.
Peace and Blessings.
