Favorite Marina Lyrics

I was just reading the post about what is your favorite song on the new CD.It is, of course difficult to pick just one or two, as the whole album is brilliant!! It got me thinking though.We talk about our favorite Marina songs, and share memories of her shows, but how about what lyrics of Marina's stand out and have significant meaning for the listener? For example, I've always loved the lyric "life is simple, until I use my brain" from "Something Of My Own". And "make your puppets come to life" from "Wilhelmina" to share a couple. I could go on and on as Marina has many songs that have significant meaning for me.I hope others will share their thought's on their favorite Marina lyrics.Thanks for reading. as i've said before, my fav song by Marina is Taet Sneg. My friend Stormy translated it into norwegian for me so i could understand the lyrics. u c my russian is totally greek...

Well, since nobody else wants to share, I guess I'll keep sharing.I have to say though, that I am really disappointed that no one else wants to share how Marina's lyrics inspire or uplift them.
I thought this would be a really fun topic, and bring the Komrade community closer together. In addition, I thought it might help make Marina some new fans. I mean imagine your new to the board and don't know much about Marina's music, seeing her fans sharing the inspiration her lyrics provides might inspire them to want to buy a CD to hear it for themselves,you know.Well anyway, I can't make anybody share so I'll go it alone for now. I don't like singling out one or two favorite songs because I love all of Marina's music. However, the song"Unbalanced" from Live at Soundmoves has always been extra special to me.After all, it was the very first song I ever heard Marina play, ever, back on Jan.9th, 2004. I was hooked within 20 seconds, and have been a devoted Marinaholic ever since. The opening line: "On days like this I can find no rest, and I'm wandering without purpose I can't concentrate" this hits home with me almost daily. I would imagine some of you out there have also felt this way at some time or another. "I gotta find some peace, make sense of all of this,find myself in this madness i need no escape, just wanna understand why I feel so unbalanced, i just wanna know why". Boy can I relate to this. "I wanna know why I'm really here, and everything I do, does it matter, does it mean a thing, I need a magic key to help unlock this power buried deep inside of me." Wow!! That is just simply amazing, I feel like Marina wrote this song about me. It is a strong song that helps me feel less alone, and that there is hope if I look deep inside of myself.Thank you Marina for your inspirational songs and lyrics. Don't ever stop, you are a truly gifted songwriter, and a great inspiration to me. Much love and respect to you!

I was very moved by Marina's recent email about her grandma.
I am very glad Marina had a grandma so special. I believe in energy and spirit and I think Marina's grandma is probably watching over her. And is very proud, I am sure

To choose just one song is not an easy task, but I would say the lyrics to ~ GONE~ (from Something of my own) definitely stand out to me. Many of us have been in this situation before. Watching the life of someone close to you spiral downward. Maybe a midlife crisis that doesn't seem to end after midlife, or an addiction like drugs or alcohol, or other. You see these negative forces take the person over the edge and they become so far gone that you don't even recognize them anymore. They don't seem to hear the voices of the people in their life that once mattered so much to them. You have tried so hard and reached out so far that it begins to affect your own life. At one point, for your own health and well being, you must let go and hope that they can find some strength and peace within themselves. As the old saying goes...you can not help someone who is not willing to help themselves. This song really hits home for me! Many of Marina's (and Nick's;)) songs and lyrics help us all to realize that we are, after all, only human and that we should not be so hard on ourselves. It is ok to have the feelings we have as it is only normal and natural.
