I was just at my friend's birthday party & they had Samuel Adams beer.
I normally don't drink beer, but I recently
watched a big History channel special on the founding fathers (did you know that John Adams predicted that the 4th of July would be a huge annual celebration from then on, with fireworks and festivities?), and decided to try the beer - being that I am an American citizen now and it's my first Independence Day.
So I thought I'd just have a little bit of the beer,
came up to the birthday boy and asked him:
"Hey, do you want to split Sam Adams with me?
I have a cup, we can put it in here & you can have the rest."
Now, say the first sentence quickly (and with a
Russian accent), and this is what he & his friend heard:
"Hey, do you want to split some atoms with me?"
It took them a while to figure out what was really going on,
but can you imagine their initial surprise?
Of course, splitting atoms at birthdays
is an important Russian tradition, it brings you luck for
the rest of the year. You mean you didn't know that?
Happy 4th of July!!!!
