----------

hi guys smile.gif there is nothing like a holiday movie to get into the spirit of the holidays. No, I'm not talking about "It's a wonderful life" or "Miracle on the 34th st". I am talking about the good old holiday classic "Santa Claus conquers the Martians." What? You haven't seen it? *laugh*.
I bought it as a joke gift for Nick's sister, but after watching the movie on Christmas day (except for the 25 minutes when I fell asleep after eating too much) I decided I HAD to have my own copy. The theme song alone is a holiday classic!!! The movie is so deliciously low-budget, the word "Claus" is actually misspelled in the credits. My description would not do the movie any justice, so feel free to learn more on http://www.badmovies.org/movies/santamars .

B-movies aside, I'd like to thank all of my Illinois friends who came to the show in Springfield. I'd also like to say thanks to Samuel Music for staying open after hours just to host my concert, to Bec at 97.7 FM for playing my music; to the wonderful people who wrote feature articles - Tom Irwin @ Illinois Times, Nick Rogers of the State Journal-Register, and Tim Cain of Decatur Herald-Review. Thank you.

Here are all of my pictures from Illinois (from the Samuel Music concert -courtesy of Kelly Thornton; from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library visit + the cover of the Martians movie). SEE THE PICTURES here:

P.S. does anyone know of a perfect B-movie to watch?
besides Plan 9 from outerspace. I have already discovered that one.

You might try Clonus (originally called Clonus Horror). It was made back around 1979, and has a pretty good cult following. It was, I believe, the inspiration for this year's Scarlet Johansen vehicle, The Island. It even has a few recognizable names in it, like Keenan Wynn, Peter Graves, and Dick Sargent. If nothing else, it's good for a few laughs.

Or maybe you should get some Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVDs, or whatever it's called. They show B-movies with a guy and two robots making fun of it.

I've always heard that "I was a Teenage Werewolf" is pretty cornball. It's hard to believe that the star of the film is the same one who moved folks to tears in "Little House on the Prairie" and "Highway to Heaven" -- and not because of the corny plot or questionable acting!!

Cheers,
Matt
