We played in San Diego Borders on Friday night and stopped by for dinner at a cool Greek restaurant in Oceanside, and then went for a walk on the Oceanside pier... There weren't too many people there, just a perfect ocean breeze.. and a beautiful pelican sitting 3 feet from the rail..I had never seen a pelican upclose like this in the wild.. It was so beautiful, I just stood there mesmerized. The pelican kept looking at us and then it just yawned. We thought, well, I guess it's just bored with us, so I did a little dance for the pelican, but it still looked pretty bored, so we decided to let it be & kept walking on the pier.
Anyway, then I told about this pelican at my SD gig and one of the people in the audience later emailed me and this is what he said:
"story behind a pelican yawning. It is said that when a pelican yawns, the person nearest is blessed with the chance of making a wish".
Isn't it cool? I had no idea.
Has anyone else ever seen a pelican yawn?
