--------- FRIDAY'S ADVENTURE smile.gif
Well, Friday was a weird day.
Nick & I were on our way to a Borders gig in Thousand Oaks (CA) at about 6 pm.
We just got onto 134 West heading towards 101, right near the Buena Vista exit.
Driving about 40 mph in the traffic. Listening to the new version of "Let Me Dream" (the song) we just recorded.
And then we got hit.
The SUV behind us was trying to merge into the carpool lane when a little sports car going about 90 smashed into them. The SUV got smashed so hard they moved into our lane and hit us. And then the little sports car sped up and took off!
It all happened so fast it didn't even seem real.
Our Isuzu didn't get hurt much, just some body damage on the driver's side. Nothing big.
The SUV that hit us was messed up pretty bad, but the two girls thankfully didn't get hurt.
We had to stop and wait for the cops to arrive to file a report. Our Isuzu and the SUV had to stop at the carpool lane, so you can imagine that the traffic behind us was pretty built up.
Twenty minutes later the road crew arrived and THEY STOPPED ALL 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC for about 5 minutes so that we could get over all the way to the right shoulder.
Now I feel like a complete L.A. person - having blocked up traffic for miles smile.gif
Half an hour later the police arrived and we gave our report. At that time a car towing service pulled up behind us towing the little sports car that originally fled the scene!!!
The sports car was smashed up pretty badly, so when the kid gassed it and left the accident, the car died soon & the kid had to call the towing service. It turned out that he didn't have any insurance AND he had a suspended license.
Minutes later, the kid called his buddies to join him on the side of the road for moral support. As they drove up, one of his friends smashed into the back of the patrol car! smile.gif
It took over an hour and a half total before we were able to leave. I had a nasty nasty nasty headache, probably because of the initial jerk, or maybe because of the silliness of the whole situation. Since the accident was by no means our fault, we did have some fun smile.gif
It was also very funny because the night before I went to my favorite chiropractor, Dr Mike (http://www.ucmg.net), & had my whole body worked over.
I called Borders & they were really cool. We didn't even get to leave the scene until 20 mins into what would have been our set, and we were still 35 miles away. Plus we needed to make sure our Isuzu was okay.
So, Nick & I went back to Glendale & made sure nothing was leaking from the Isuzu smile.gif
I am usually pretty obsessed with eating organic & healthy food, but Nick & I were starving & I was craving Swedish pancakes from IHOP, so we went there afterwards & gorged, & gorged, & gorged.
Normally, I go to bed around 2 or 3 am, but yesterday I went to bed at 10 and slept 14 hours!!!!
-------- OTHER NOTES
A couple of days ago we filmed a little segment for Long Beachin' with Mo, a cool Long Beach, CA, local access & internet show. It was really fun, I'll let everyone know when it airs.
We met an incredible harpist Carol Tatum, who performs at Borders from time to time. You should definitely check her out.
And then we met Brad, who calls himself a sport fisherman turned underwater photographer. He does deep diving by just holding his breath, without any gear but his photocamera. His passion for conservation of marine wildlife is very contageous. And the pictures he takes deserve to be in the National Geographic!
You should check him out at http://www.loveofsea.com
Okay, I typed way too much, time to get off the computer.
Talk to you all soon and hope to see you at the Benefit on the 15th at the Knitting Factory.
P.S. I watched "Santa Clause is coming to town" for the very first time and fell in love with the cute little kissy penguin!!!
P.P.S. Whoever burned their hair on the candle at my last club show at Genghis Cohen, I hope you didn't get seriously hurt!!!!!!!!!! smile.gif
