I took the liberty to post ScottZ's comments here:

I haven't been here in a while, and I see I've missed out on a few things. I just downloaded Belaya Gvardiya...in fact, it just finished and is playing now. Wow! I don't understand the words, but I can feel the emotion! Thank you so much for giving it to us.

Marina!

I found a little bit more on Belaya Gvardiya today. The largest Russian food department store & online store, is called "Belaya Gvardiya".
I also found a short mp3 of Belaya... done on computers (linux) and emulating an acoustic(classical) guitar without vocals, by Alexey Spiridonov. I think it was part of a mid-term project at school. It's really very good.
I would sooo like to track him down and let him listen to you! You would blow him away, like you did me!!! :D I'm trying to learn it now, it is such a wonderful melancholic song!

You can find the mp3 at [url]http://www.princeton.edu/~aspirido/cs325midterm/[url]

Love to you,
~Scott

thanks, Scott!! I did a little research of my own and found THE ORIGINAL song!!! it's by a Russian band named "Belaya Gvardiya"

http://multimedia.bgvmusic.ru/bgv/001/bgv.mp3

Their site is entirely in Russian http://www.bgvmusic.ru/ (http://www.bgvmusic.ru), so I posted the link above of the song.

Hey thanks M!
I downloaded this one too! It seems like a lighter, maybe more traditional version. Ive heard music from eastern europe(I think) that this style reminds me of.
I'm still so floored by your version though! You have such great emotion when singing it, I know it must mean a great deal to you. To me, This is the kind of singing, that is complete. It is already fully developed from the piano, the voice, and the feelings It sends to the listener. Even one that doesn't understand the language completely, can be totally moved by it.
Thats when you say..."It couldn't have been any better."

PS Oh, and it is so stuck in my head, I wake up singing it! tongue.gif

Hi Marina!

You've got the great voice and something else that can be unmistakably identified as no less than a great talent. Carry on! smile.gif

... and I like your green eyes. smile.gif

I've read your life story and still can't understand how come you have this great accent singing in Russian. As I understood you finally left Moscow at 17. Normally people leaving their countries at this age speak their native language very clearly after any number of years. So what's the matter with you? Very interesting and unusual, IMHO. Or did I miss anything?

Hi Marina's fans,

FYI the original of this song you can find here (http://multimedia.bgvmusic.ru/bgv/when/bgv1.mp3). And the very original is here (http://multimedia.bgvmusic.ru/bgv/001/bgv.mp3) but the recording quality is significantly worse. Belaya Gvardiya literally means White Guards. It's my favorite Russian music band. ;)

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
My accent in Russian is not THAT bad :D

My family in Moscow sometimes laughs at my accent, but the second I come to Russia I start speaking normally again.
