Throughout this week, as I wrote cards & letters, made phone calls, & sent e-mail to loved ones present & past, I have been listening to music of the Ladies of Song who have touched my life, Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos, Amy Lee [saw her @ the Wiltern Wednesday], & Marina Gennadievna Vernikina [I can't believe that I actually know your real name much less your middle name!] and others, too. I want to thank you for the gift of your music. Michael.

Hi M!
I haven't been here in a while, and I see I've missed out on a few things. I just downloaded Belaya Gvardiya...in fact, it just finished and is playing now. Wow! I don't understand the words, but I can feel the emotion! Thank you so much for giving it to us.
I've been listening to your "Something..." CD, over the last few days, I "had" been thinking..."I wonder, if the recording industry people have ever tried to tell Marina to lose her Russian accent." You know, they always want to change so much, to fit into their "Vision" of what will sell records...what the public will buy. Maybe you've heard of Elly K. (Elizavete Khripounova) Elly grew up in Moscow. The reason I mention her, is her singing voice seems to have little or no accent (Americanized) for lack of a better term. I'm not criticizing her at all, she's wonderful. I just wonder if She has been pressured to sound neutral, in order to appeal to american audiences.
I was just curious if you had encountered anything like this. I would not be surprised, those companies aren't about ART, they're about MONEY.
Anyway, M you know I love you just the way you are. Wouldn't change a thing!
Warmest, ~Scott tongue.gif
