Since I'm lazy, I'll just copy the blog I did on myspace:

Marina lyrics
I’m tempting fate, or is it tempting me?
And
If you find your heart, let me know.
(That one always makes me giggle)

Met some German girls today, but I don’t think any actual flirting took place, though of course I wouldn’t know. Telling them that the only German words I knew were “liebling” (darling) and “Ich liebe dich” (I love you) wouldn’t be considered flirting, would it?
I lied: I know “einbahnstrasse” (one-way street) as well.
The newsstand on the corner of Hollywood and Cahuenga had three publications screaming “Go to Iceland!” The idiots obviously didn’t know I was there last week.
“The idiots obviously don’t know I was there last week,” I told the newsstand guy, but he didn’t seem interested, and I didn’t feel like explaining what an Iceland was.
As usual, I listened to the music of the artist I was going to see that night all day. This was going to be my second Marina concert, but the first time I didn’t know her stuff at all. So all day, whenever “Underneath Your Sky” came on. . . There’s a section where the instruments stop, she goes a capella for about five seconds, and then the instruments kick in again, loudly. All day I’d been a beat early on it, but in concert, I nailed it! I was so proud of myself I nearly forgot to listen to the rest of the song.
Ran into an old friend and his new girlfriend, who was from out of town and he was showing her “Hollywood!” Of course he had to mention I had once dated his sister, but luckily I cut off any embarrassing memories by saying, “Not getting serious with her ended up being a blessing in costume.”
The scintillating conversation continued thusly:
“Don’t you mean in disguise?”
“This is a no-cliché zone.”
“Really? Damn!”

Oh, the concert, right.
Hotel Café was steaming and smoldering, and then they put candles on the table. Bright idea, and no, that’s not a pun. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a venue without the music being part of it. Not enough light to take photos; the venues all hate me. . . or they will after reading this.
Anyway, since I wasn’t shooting, I got to concentrate on the music. Every silver lining has its cloud. . . No, wait, that’s not how it goes. . .
Here’s a question for all of youse: Would you be happy if a musician started a concert playing your favorite song? Obviously, it’s your favorite song! But wouldn’t it seem like the rest of the concert would go downhill from there?
Luckily it didn’t, but I would have preferred “Ocean” to be the closer. She also performed my third favorite, “Underneath your Sky,” but somehow missed my second, “Make This Moment Last.”
The main difference between the first concert I saw of hers and this one was that this time I knew the songs and could sing along--quietly--except for the Russian song, of course. But then she had a Russian violist-backup singer to sing with her there, so no problem. Unfortunately, the violin only came into play in one song, Killing My Dream, and the stage was too tiny for a cello. Still, I enjoy at least moving my lips to the song and hoping she sees it, and gets that little smile. . .
Yes, Marina’s trademark breathy voice was full on.
An interesting breakdown: she did three songs from her “first” album, four from her “second,” one too new for CD, and one that she said was the first song she ever wrote with Nick. In case you didn’t know, she had two CDs before “Something Of My Own” which she now refuses to acknowledge, which makes me want to hear them all the more! Apparently they’re on ebay for hundreds of dollars. Marina, if you have any copies left, you might be able to finance a new CD that way.
Huge crowd around the merch table to see her after; she is literally a rock star. By the way, Marina, for continuity’s sake, you should have a stuffed weasel holding your poster at the table.
Nick, were you blonde last time I saw you? Didn’t recognize you at first. . .
And it’s always great to meet fellow Rush fans. . .

Disclaimer: I don’t want it to seem from my writings that I didn’t enjoy the three concerts this week. I know it seems like all I did was write about what bad days I had, but all three acts were awesome and worthy of more fans than actually went. I especially felt bad that Chris read what little I wrote about her performance and think I didn’t enjoy it. But then, she laughs at everything, so I think she’ll survive.
Back to the everyday travails of uncommon man.

Had a coughing attack near the subway station after the concert. Some guy who actually thought he looked good and had on a tie and one of those earphone-cellphone things--and was probably pretending to be on a call--had on the most cologne I’ve ever had the misfortune to smell on one body. Considering I’m allergic to perfumes, I was about to follow him in case I threw up, so it would be on him, but no, being five yards near the guy would make me throw up, and I’d rather not. Still, somebody oughtta give this guy a clue.
On the subway was a grubby obnoxious preacher lady yelling “Serve Jesus or Die!” who was being heckled by an equally obnoxious guy. He also needs a clue, but she was too far gone.
On the walk home. . . does this ever happen to you, because it happens to me all the time! When I’m walking under a streetlight, it goes out! It happened three times within two blocks last night! And then I looked back the third time, and it came back on! Is it a scientific thing, where I have some radioactive isotope in my body that turns them off (apparently works on women, too)? Is it my karma, to always be in the dark? Or are there video cameras installed nearby and some guy in the control center is fucking with me?
Five days left on my Kat Parsons crash course; I think I have “Miss Me” down, but of course she’ll choose not to play that Wednesday.
By the way, got some new shots of Adrina, if anyone’s interested in looking at beautiful singer-pianists.
So, what have we learned? We learned the Hotel Café cares more about atmosphere than the comfort of the patrons. It was so dark I had trouble reading these notes; finally I can blame it on something other than my poor penmanship.
And, Marina. . .
I was feeling your not-so-simple magic as well.
Oh yeah, I walked into a spider web. . .

Thanks for your thoughts! Sounds like you've been busy! It's great that you pay attention to the world around you. Yes, I've been blonde for a while now, but who knows what the future will bring. I'm glad we hit two of your three favs. Maybe next time we'll do "Make This Minute Last." You can always e-mail requests. Actually the lines are "when you find your home, let me know." and "I'm tempting fate. Or is it fate that's tempting me?" Thanks again for your post. It's always great to hear from everyone out there! Have fun and don't get too stressed! smile.gif  ;) tongue.gif :D

GREAT REVIEW! It was such an awesome concert. I tried to get my Marina hug afterwards and had to wait for half an hour for the crowd to thin out. Rock star she is!

Here is the setlist.

Ocean
I'll be alright
Killing My Dream
Guardian Angel
Pesnya O Tebe
Leaving (this was awesome!)
Underneath Your Sky
Something of my own
Walk Away

Can't wait for the September show at the remodeled Hotel Cafe!

Sorry about the lyrics, but you have to admit my version's funnier! I owe you a roll-up keyboard! (yeah, right)
