The perils of being a homebirth midwife and the fun we sometimes have to miss....
One of my ladies thinks her water broke, though she's not contracting yet. If she doesn't deliver by tomorrow, I will be unable to leave San Diego. :( That's the only way I won't be there! However, 5-7 friends that were going to accompany me have said they are definitely going, so I'll be there in spirit.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to make this show!

PS....very important question:
How long do I remain a "junior komrade," and what do I get to be after that? ;)

After 30 posts, you will be a "Komrade" and showered with gold and rainbows. No, actually, you'll just look really cool by having "Komrade" under your name! smile.gif

I don't get ANYTHING! :( :( :(
My client did not deliver her baby, and I didn't think she would, but she asked me to not go all the way to LA, because she was too nervous she would go into labor while I was gone. I had to honor her request, but I did feel very sad to miss the show tonight. Someone, please tell me all about it. I think I need to buy her a Marina cd so she knows what I missed. ;)
My friends did go. They were the group of 6 with probably the only baby there.
I hear they bought CDs, so GOOD!
So now must I wait for the SD Lestat's show? THat's a whole nother MONTH from now.
By the way, on another message board where I've been posting Marina lyrics, someone replied that she used to go see Marina and Nick in Chicago. Really? I was born and raised there, lived there until 6 years ago. Why did I never hear of you then? :D
I'm ready for the 3rd album now please. ;)

I saw Marina for the first time tonight at the Hotel Cafe. The place was absolutely packed but absolutely silent as people listened to Marina, except, of course, claps and screams in between the songs. Marina's humor charmed the audience as well.
What a great show! The best one I've seen in years!
I asked for the setlist afterwards. Here is what Marina played:
Always
That's The Way It Goes
Pesnya O Tebe
Never Again
Killing My Dream
Underneath Your Sky
Guardian Angel
Something of My Own
Simple Magic
Who else on this board was there?

Ok, so she was close....
NOW, I really AM off to have that baby! Wish us light and love. So she wouldn't have interrupted Marina's show, but I would just have been getting home from it at 2am. Hmm...maybe she'll name the baby Marina or Nick. :D

Vickii...I was there last night and know just the group of friends you were talking about (and, yep, the baby was the giveaway). smile.gif Debbie, I know I met you, but I'm pretty sure there were two Debbies, so I'm not sure which one you were. I'm the person who was behind the CD table up front.
The show was FANTASTIC! Marina and Nick sounded BETTER THAN EVER! Marina's voice is truly God-sent. That indescribable feeling you get when you're surrounded by nature, taking a deep breath, taking it all in? That's how Marina's voice affects me. And the ever soul-searching lyrics resonate deep within any thinking-person's soul. Just exquisite. Nick and Marina changed-up the set list, treated the audience to two songs they don't usually play--"Always" and "Never Again," which were great--and, as a whole, the concert had a different feel than usual, which really worked in making last night fresh and interesting from the previous 9 performances at the Hotel Cafe (Happy Anniversary!). Looking forward to the next show!

Jen and I were there as well. Front table!! My parents made the trip from Cambria (4 hour drive) to see her too. They love her music and had to see her in person as Jen and I talk about how great Marina and Nick are in person. As always Marina was AWESOME (you too Nick) smile.gif Jeff

I was actually there to see Vienna Teng - so glad I got there early and was introduced to Marina's music. I would have been missing out on such an amazing artist!
I came with three friends, and after Marina said she would be back in June we all looked at each other and started debating over who was driving. That we would be attending wasn't even a question!
The performance was amazing. My friend couldn't get over your "song with attitude." haha. I haven't stopped listening to your CD's yet!
Thank you for sharing your music with us!

Wow, sounds like it was a really good show! I wish I could have been there. Do you have any plans to make it near the Gypsy Den again, or near Anaheim?
