You said you were going to play "Guardian Angel". Is it a brand new song?

I had the idea in my head, but I couldn't finish it for some reason. Every few months I'd remember I have this idea, but it just didn't want to be written. And 4 weeks ago, it came over me, and the song practically wrote itself. Nick helped me write the 2nd verse lyrics and the bridge lyrics.
Can't wait to play it for you guys smile.gif

Thanks for posting the insight about "Guardian Angel". I know nothing about writing songs, it sounds really fascinating to me!

OK, I promised Marina a review and have been slacking.
Marina, the show was great.!
I've been watching her perform in LA now since almost the day she moved into town, and everytime she performs she gets better and better. More refined in her performance style and in the execution of the songs themselves.
Of all the shows and venues I've seen Marina perform, I believe the Hotel Cafe offers the best atmosphere to enjoy her music. It is very intimate, and with a woman like Marina, who is so open, kind, and enjoys being with the audiance instead of sitting apart from them, you can see her really enjoying herself.
I was blown away when Marina picked up the guitar and began playing. As soon as I think I know all her talents, she throws in a surprise.
Those of you that missed Marina's show, at the Hotel Cafe, truely missed a great performance. I do hope she gets to perform there again.
Keep writing new material, and have fun recreating the old. It just keeps getting better and better. The growth I have seen in the past two years in amazing. I am really looking forward for her to continue to grow and am excited to see where she and her music will be two years from now.
When a tune gets into your head and you find yourself singing it all day with a smile, that speaks a lot for that tune. Much of Marina's music floats through my mind and over my lips in the course of each day, that speaks much for Marina's talent.
Keep it up Marina.

So true, Piratekilla, that is why I said better than "Gypsy Den." I was open-mouthed-in-awe!! The beauty of that hour will be with me forever -- there are memories that replay in my mind, a sort of "The best Of Your Life Michael Ray" -- my daughter's births, one was natural, a miracle, & without problems while another was an emergency c-section and I was in the OR [they actually pull your uterus out, remove the baby, stitch-stitch, & stuff it back in!!]; Club Night [Wednesdays] @ Bob's #7 on Van Nuys Bl; Cruising the Strip & Road Races On Mulholland; The Doors @ Reseda High School [I went to Van Nuys] in 1966 & at the Whiskey the next night; Big Brother & The Holding Company with Janis Joplin @ Griffith Park for free along with Grace Slick & Jefferson Airplane; Buffalo Springfield @ the factory; Damita Jo @ The Mann Hole; Roberta Flack @ Lighthouse; Linda Ronstadt @ the Ice House; Tim Wiesberg on Campus @ SFVSC; Newport '69 at Devonshire Downs [there is actually a race track at CSUN which was then SFVSC; Joni Mitchell @ the Universal [it was an open air amphitheater then]17 August 1974; Patty Smith @ The Golden Bear; Rickie Lee Jones @ the Ice House; Pink Floyd The Wall at the Sports Arena 11 August 1980; Grace Slick with the Starship @ Universal; Stevie Nicks @ The Us Festival; Annie Lennox @ The Pacific Amphitheater; The KROQ 1996 Almost Acoustic Christmas Ladies Night Out -- Tori Amos [& several other venues -- especially the Greek], Sarah Mclachlan, Natalie Merchant, Poe, Tracy Bonham, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Shirley Manson -- talk about a line-up; Then KROQ 1997 AAC with Monique Powell/Save Ferris [and Weenie Roast in '98], Gwen & No Doubt, Sarah Again, Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, & Fiona Again; Lilith Fair several times; Other ACC's; Amy Lee at the Wiltern -- she & Marina are my current favorite poet, singer, song writer, girl at the piano obsessions; ------------------------- and now Marina Verenikina at the Hotel Cafe 2 June 2004 [my youngest daughter & I had dinner @ Musso & Franks -- I hadn't been there since high school -- before the show]. Mostly women & music -- great memories -- Thank you, Marina, for being there & giving me a gem of an evening!!
