The show was awesome! Marina played quite a few new songs (well not new according to her, just ones she hasn't played in a few years hehe). The gypsy den was a cool place (new hang out spot for my boyfriend and i, they had an awesome brownie ice cream thing lol). My boyfriend and I totally had a blast, it was great to see Marina again and hear her perform, just what I needed to relax during finals (wish me luck for my last few tomorrow hehe). It would be awesome if Marina came back to the gypsy den, cuz everyone that was there just to eat ended up staying to listen to her, just shows how good she is ;) hehe great job Marina! Hope to see you again soon (i will try to go to the pasadena show too ^.^ hehe) ^.^

awesome show, cool ambiance, some angelic voices coming from the calmly-lit stage, nick's guitar sounding pristine, and some damn good apple pie and ice cream!
thanks for coming to the neighborhood guys!

Great to see Marina and Nick again. Very nice to see my fellow Komrades!!!!! I enjoyed the set especially the older stuff. (Only because I'd never heard it before) Every time I hear Marina, I get more in touch with the lyrics. Geesh...for such a young woman.....how does she come up with those????? Anyway, I did get a few pics from the show and I'll send em to James so he can post em as soon as I get the film processed. I'm off to Ohio for a few days so......cya gang!!!!

a lil more elaborate, here's the review I sent to my community.
Roof-high linens swaying in the roof-high windows, glass vases and colored jars lining the mantels, a warm, red glow highlighting Marina's red hair and bright aura as her angelic voice caresses the restaurant, Nick plucking away at his guitar in perfect harmony with her piano..........
Now add in some tasty organic apple crisp and sweet vanilla ice cream, a few sips on an ice cold Bass, and a long day filled with LA stress and traffic behind me, and this sets a perfect ambiance for the night.
MarinaV enlightened the Gypsy Den in Santa Ana last night with some songs that we haven't heard her perform live in a long time, as well as the long-loved classics. The crowd had definately fallen for Marina, but obviously not for the first time. Faithful fans toughed the freeways to make it down to Orange County and catch their dose of the drug that is Marina's sweet sweet voice. In a moment of timelessness, one could easily become trapped in this mood for a lifetime, or at least savor it for one moment.
I haven't seen MarinaV perform since before my departure to Costa Rica in January. Now I remember what it was that was missing! Sure it was easy to go to a show only 2 blocks from my trashy apartment, but I can't wait to catch up with her again at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood on June 2nd. If you knew better, you'd already have the date marked on your calendar. Trust me, it's worth coming out of your cave for one night and wake up to the dream that is MarinaV's music!

Hey everybody! Show at the Gypsy Den was AWESOME. Place is pretty cool, great nachos, atmosphere made me feel like I was back in The Village. But for the importanat stuff, Marina sounded top of the line. Got to hear songs I hadn't heard before, new soon to be favorites, and even my requested, "Never Again". I had a great time as always. Hey Nick, you rock, too.

There is no such thing as an awkward silence, fans are lovers who don't care how well, or even if, you speak – we are happy to be with you -- you are nervous, that is attractive to us so don’t let the nervous excitement worry you. Fans are family, your mom or sister or dad, whom “tear-up” [like in ‘tears of joy’] when you sing & play. I was enthralled, you made me proud. Thank you and yes I will come to Hollywood to see you.
My youngest daughter lives in 90028 -- a make-up artist, tattooed diva, & promoter of rock & roll – she & I almost made it to the Café Hotel show.
By the way, as a father of four daughters, I must bring to your attention that it is wise to hang on to a man who goes down on his knees to tape your pedal to the stage floor!

Hi,
I'm new to the board, but not new to Marina's wonderful music. But... I haven't seen her since her birthday show in LA. *sorry* I went to the Gypsy Den show with my friend Bobby (who should be on this board, too). I met two great guys, sorry. I forgot your names. Bluesman and Al, perhaps?? Sorry if that's wrong. I'm so apologetic today, aren't I? Hope to make it to the June 2 show.

Please please please play at the Gypsy Den again. Regrettably, I was emmersed in finals and missed the show even though it is so near to where I live. It sounds like a place with a really cool vibe and I miss you and Nick oodles. I would be so happy if you guys would book another gig at the Gypsy Den!!! ;)
